Jordan Peele’s horrifying, profoundly creative social commentaries, Us and Get Out, have left fans waiting for more. This past week, Peele announced his next movie when he shared its cover on Twitter and Instagram.
The film, titled Nope, is confirmed to star Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira, and Daniel Kaluuya, who starred in Get Out.
The cover appears ominous (but after his previous work, who’s surprised?) – showing a dark cloud hovering over what seems to be a brightly lit town. There is also a kite string wisping behind the cloud – unsurprisingly leaving many questions unanswered.
Not much information has been shared regarding the new project, but many fans have their speculations.
Nope seems to hint at the tendency to avoid horror scenarios in general, often joked about in the Black community, and I would guess that the movie would somehow reflect that quality, but really, who knows?
Nope is set to be released on July 22, 2022 – the year-long wait upsetting many, including myself. Us star, Shahadi Wright Joseph jokingly commented on Peele’s announcement: “How are we supposed to wait a year??!?”
