Tonight is the premiere of the second season of Kenan, staring Kenan Thompson, on NBC. If you tuned into the last season, you will see some familiar faces, as well as some new.
Two of the actors that will be returning are Chris Redd, who will be returning as Gary, and Don Johnson is also returning as Rick. One new cast member that we know of so far is Hayley Marie Norman, who will be playing the character Janay, there to shake up the lives of Kenan and Gary.
The first season of the sitcom contains 10 episodes, capturing the life of Kenan, a single father, trying to find a balance between his career and his home life, raising his two daughters. His father-in-law, Rick, seems to cause more harm than good in Kenan’s life, making it even harder than he could have imagined.
Thompson commented that the romance of the show is going to “crank up a notch or two,” in the second season, according to Rosy Cordero with Deadline. While the first season offered a great introduction to the characters and their lives, the second season is expected to go above and beyond.
Reviewers of the show say “The show grows on you,” and “It’s about time Kenan Thompson got his own show.” Others said the first season was “Hilarious,” and that if you already love Kenan, you’re bound to love the show too.
Needless to say, season 2 is highly anticipated, now that the characters are comfortable in their shoes and the writers are ready to take some risks in the script.
