Saturday Night Live and Nickelodeon star Kenan Thompson and famed award-winning actor Luis Guzmán, who has been seen in amazing films such as Traffic, are teaming up to host a gala which aims to raise awareness and funds for a rare and deadly pediatric brain stem tumor. Along with these gifted celebrities, Brenda K. Starr will be in attendance. The Pop and Latin singer will be performing her hits at the Gala. The Third Annual Cristian Rivera Foundation Gala is being held at the Copacabana Supper Club on September 12 and not only will it be entertaining, but it will also be raising money for research to find a cure for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma(DIPG). When asked about his involvement in this important non-profit organization, Thompson remarked, “Being part of the Cristian Rivera Foundation means a lot to me. Working to save children’s lives is a very important and inspiring thing. I have young children in my family—nieces, nephews and cousins—so I can imagine what it would be like to lose them, although no one can truly understand that level of heartbreak unless they’ve gone through it firsthand. I’m very excited to be involved in this foundation in any way I can.”While both Guzmán and Thompson are known for their immense talent, it’s also refreshing to know that they are giving back in any way that they can, especially when it comes to children.
