Kobe Bryant ‘Dream Court’ Unveiled in Philadelphia

Philadelphia has dedicated a basketball court that pays homage to the late legend Kobe Bryant and his late daughter, Gianna Bryant. His legacy was officially cemented in what was his hometown.

Wife of the late legend, Vanessa Bryant, and their three daughters that they share – Natalia, 19, Bianka, 5, and Capri, 2 – were present with the city officials on Tuesday to reveal a new court at the Tustin Recreational Playground in Philadelphia’s Overbrook neighborhood, where Bryant said her husbands “love for basketball all began”

The brand new basketball court presents the signature gold and purple known to be associated with the Los Angeles Lakers in addition to No. 24 emblems (Kobe’s jersey number) and No.2 (Gianna’s jersey number) wrapped in a heart at each free-throw line. At the same time, the midcourt features butterflies that surround Kobe and Gianna’s names. In addition to this, the court is surrounded by multiple murals of Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant and includes a quote from Bryant himself: “Dedication makes dreams come true.”

Vanessa wrote in an Instagram post, “I chose this location so that young people in this community may have a safe space to play with equal opportunity, which was important to Kobe and Gianna. We are grateful to the CIty of Philadelphia, @muralarts, for welcoming this project and helping to make it a reality.”

Tustin Playground is one of the three Dream Courts created by the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation and the Nancy Lieberman Charities.

In another post, she states, “Especially grateful to our @mambamambacitasports collaboration with (Nancy Lieberman) to build these @dream_courts. She embodies everything Kobe and Gianna valued in her fight to empower women in sports and provide opportunities for underserved athletes.”

Kobe and his daughter, Gianna, were among nine people that were killed in a fatal helicopter crash in January 2020 in California. Since their death, hundreds of Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant murals have been created worldwide.
