A grim and bloody take on the true story of the Bondurant Brothers, a bootleg sibling who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. For those who haven’t heard of the story, it’s an epic tale inspired by true-life tales of the author Matt Bondurant’s family in the novel “The Wettest County in the World”, it is about the loyalty of three brothers who are out to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave. Leading the film star Shia LaBeouf portraying the role of Jack Bondurant, Tom Hardy as Forrest, and Jason Clarke as Howard who runs a liquor bootlegging business in Franklin County, Virginia where they encounter rivals who threaten their business as well as their lives. If this movie is faithful to the book and the historical documents that were posted at the time are open to debate, but it boasts some incredible shots and even some powerfully acting from the main cast; not to forget Gary Oldman who immediately stole the scenes he was in. It may not be an exciting film to end the summer season, but it is a fun thrill ride that it is worth giving it shot.
