Former United States Representative Liz Cheney has been quite vocal about her opinions of the nominees for President in the upcoming election. Despite being a Republican, Cheney has voiced her displeasure with Donald Trump and the current state of the Republican Party.
When asked who she would be voting for in November she said, “I don’t believe that we have the luxury of writing in candidates’ names, particularly in swing states…As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this. And because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris.”
Recently she was photographed with Democrat Collin Allred who she has backed as a running candidate for the United States Senate. “Allred is somebody I served with in the House, and somebody who really, when you think about the kind of leaders our country needs, and going to this point about, you know, you might not agree on every policy position, but we need people who are going to serve in good faith,” said Cheney at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin. “We need people who are honorable public servants and in this race that is Colin Allred so I’ll be working on his behalf.”
All of this support for the Democratic party has people questioning her registration as a Republican. Her husband, former VP Dick Cheney has had similar criticism thrown his way despite also being a Republican. He went as far as to say, “There has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” and made it clear he too will be voting blue.
