Lizzo announces news single

It is hard to believe that Lizzo has not released any new music in two years considering her potent social media presence via TikTok and her hilariously rumored love affair with Marvel’s Chris Evans, but she’s back in the music scene after announcing a new single on Aug. 2. The song, she said, will be released on Aug. 13.

In a golden-themed Instagram post, Lizzo wrote, “NEW ERA BITCH. ‘RUMORS’. 8/13.” In the photo, the singer raises a single finger to her lips in the image, revealing one long, pointed nail studded with silver jewels and gold chains.

Lizzo’s most recent album, Cuz I Love You, was released in 2019 and garnered her three Grammy nominations in Jan. 2020. She was also voted the 2020 NAACP Image Awards Entertainer of the Year and Time’s 2019 Entertainer of the Year.

Lizzo topped the Billboard 100 list in 2019 with her song “Truth Hurts,” which was initially released in 2017 but included on the deluxe edition of Cuz I Love You.

“Rumors” will be Lizzo’s first release since her blockbuster third album Cuz I Love You in April 2019 and the subsequent Charli XCX duet “Blame It on Your Love,” so the glossy teaser image has fans eager, many commenting their excitement over the announcement post.

Lizzo’s single “Rumors” will be out on all music streaming platforms on Aug. 13.
