Latin Artist of the Month for April 2022
Marco Antonio Muñiz, known professionally as Marc Anthony, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and producer. His passion and love for music started at an early age, learning how to sing in both English and Spanish from his father Felipe Muñiz, who was a professional guitarist. His career launched with his first release and debut album in 1988, Rebel. He performed in the New York club scene, gaining more and more popularity. In 1992, Marc Anthony and his song-writing partner, Little Louie Vega opened in New York City’s Madison Square Garden for Tito Puente. Since then, he’s released many best-selling singles and albums.
Since the start of his career, Anthony, who is also the top-selling tropical salsa artist of all time, is a two-time Grammy Award and six-time Latin Grammy Award-winning artist. His awards don’t end there as he’s been recognized with the 2009 Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Chair’s Award, 2009 CHCI Chair’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and holds the Guinness World Record for best-selling tropical/salsa artist and most number-one albums on the Billboard Tropical Albums year-end charts. He’s sold over 12 million albums worldwide and is most well-known for his Latin salsa pieces and ballads.
