Flashback Athlete of the Month for November 2021

Our flashback athlete for November is not only a cultural icon, but also one of the best players who ever lived, Michael Jordan. Jordan helped popularize the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s, which made him a global superstar.

He played 15 seasons in the NBA, winning six championships with the Chicago Bulls. His biography on the official NBA website states: “By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.”

His leaping ability and his famous slam dunks earned him the title of “Air Jordan” and “His Airness,” the former is also the name of Jordan’s incredibly successful collection of sneakers. The collaboration with Nike was introduced in 1984 and remains popular

Jordan has won countless awards and accolades, some of them include: six NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards, 10 scoring titles (both all-time records), five MVP Awards, 10 All-NBA First Team designations, nine All-Defensive First Team honors (joint record), 14 NBA All-Star Game selections, three All-Star Game MVP Awards, three steals titles, the 1988 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award, and may more.

ESPN has named Jordan the “greatest American athlete of the 20th Century,” and he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in both 2009 and 2010.
