Mick Jagger’s daughter arrested in Ibiza for assaulting officer

Jade Jagger, daughter of famed rock n roller Mick Jagger, has been arrested in Ibiza following an altercation with officers.

The Spanish island of Ibiza is a popular tourist and vacation destination, often frequented throughout the year by international travelers.  The island has become known for its extremely lively nightlife and club culture.  Many well-known DJs and artists scheduled tour stops or one-offs on the island, as the environment at live shows there tends to be described as “riotous.”

The incident in question seems to stem from a dinner gone awry, although the details are still quite hazy.  Jagger, 51, and her new boyfriend Anthony Hinkson, 31, were out to dinner at La Oliva Restaurant in Ibiza’s capitol, Ibiza Town.  Witnesses claim that Hinkson was acting erratically and speaking unintelligibly.  At one point, he left the restaurant and apparently bought a 2,000 euro dress for a waitress at the restaurant. Witnesses say he was also rude to the staff at the dress shot, continuing to use expletives and speak incoherently.  He returned to the restaurant, where the altercation between Hinkson and the wait staff continued, prompting the restaurant manager to call the authorities.

At some point, Hinkson exited the restaurant and began to harass pedestrians, taking his shirt off and screaming obscenities.  When the police arrived, Hinkson berated them until they decided to place him under arrest.  As they maneuvered him to the ground, he continued to resist.  It is at this point that Jagger tries to intervene by pushing an officer, claiming the arrest was unjust and motivated by racism.  Hinkson is African American.

Both were taken into custody.

The Spanish police union, SUP, has instructed a lawyer to pursue a private prosecution against the two, citing frustrations with past assaults on police officers going unchecked.  “We are tired of seeing how assaults on police go virtually unpunished.  SUP will present a private legal action against Mick Jagger’s daughter for allegedly assaulting a National Police officer in Ibiza.”
