Millie Bobby Brown Stars in Enola Holmes

The young star Millie Bobby Brown, most famously known for her role in Stranger Things, dominates the screen in new Netflix movie Enola Holmes. Beside Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill and Sam Claflin star as brothers Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. The story is based on famous detective Sherlock Holmes’s sister Enola, who is attempting to solve the mystery of her mother going missing. However, while this is the plot that’s advertised in the trailer, it takes a backseat within the movie.

With conflicting reviews, 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 6.7/10 on IMDb, this flick gives you that Disney feel with a twist. Bobby Brown’s character is hard not to love, as she is in almost every scene of the movie and kills them all. While it seems that Henry Cavill’s character (Sherlock) would have a large role in the movie, unfortunately it’s the opposite. Cavill isn’t in the movie enough considering that many people watching the trailer hoped he would be an awesome addition to the film as Sherlock, the older brother/mentor.

While it was a good watch, the feminist ideology was a bit forced. Obviously, equality in all facets of society is a necessity. But it was blatant that the writers tried to portray the men in the film as “useless,” a term they used over and over to describe the male characters.

Overall, the movie was worth the watch. It’s becoming clearer with every show or movie she’s in that Millie Bobby Brown will soon be the princess of Hollywood. She did an unbelievable job carrying this movie to success with little support from the other actors. While the plot was a bit confusing and the connection between the murder plot and her mother’s disappearance seemed too easy, the movie was still solid.

If you are a fan of mysteries or Millie Bobby Brown, this movie is for you.
