Netflix apologizes for “Love Is Blind” live reunion delay

Netflix took to Twitter to apologize for the delays in the Love Is Blind live reunion show on Sunday night.

The live reunion, scheduled for 8 pm EST, marked the conclusion of season 4 of the hit reality TV show.  Netflix users were able to access a waiting room 10 minutes before the start time.

Yet, viewers were taken aback when the show failed to air at the scheduled time.  Netflix delivered updates, initially saying the reunion would air in 15 min. This would be the first of many updates and delays, as seven minutes later, the streamer promised the stream would be “worth the wait” via Twitter.

Hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey also tried to boost morale during the delays, with the co-host couple posting an Instagram live stream, promising to “save all the tea” for the live show.

“Everybody broke the internet to see this reunion.  So we are ready to roll. We just got to figure this out. We’re getting everything to work. We are not asking any questions to anybody until we’re streaming live into your living rooms, onto your phones onto your tablets, whatever you’re watching on.”

At 9 pm, another picture came through of a seemingly bewildered and/or exasperated star, Tiffany Pennywell and Vanessa Lachey.

Season 3 star, Nancy Rodriguez also went live on Instagram to comment on the reunion, quipping: “There are some technical difficulties and we are unable to connect, But you know what? Having a little lemonade mocktail.”

With the breadth of posts coming in via social media, the general message was that the cast was stuck on the set, waiting for the technical difficulties to be resolved.

Fans took to Twitter to voice their frustration or turn to humor for relief.  Democrat representative, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez tweeted, “Someone call Lucia the seamstress to fix this.  I believe in her.”

At 9:29 pm, Netflix tweeted: “To everyone who stayed up late, woke up early, gave up their Sunday afternoon… we are incredibly sorry that the Love is Blind Live Reunion did not turn out as we had planned. We’re filming it now and we’ll have it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible. Again, thank you and sorry.”

The reunion finally aired at 3 pm EST on Monday.
