Nick Jonas is Set to Host 2021 Billboard Music Awards

The 2021 Billboard Music Awards are set to be hosted by Nick Jonas on Sunday May 23rd. There are a few artists who are currently nominated for several categories, like The Weeknd and DaBaby. The Weeknd has 16 nominations and DaBaby has 11. Country star Morgan Wallen is a finalist in five categories, but due to his recent conduct, including saying the n-word on video, he will not be appearing. Dick Clark Productions said in a statement, “Morgan Wallen is a finalist this year based on charting. As his recent conduct does not align with our core values, we will not be including him on the show in any capacity (performing, presenting, accepting).” The finalists in the categories are determined by the top artists on the Billboard charts.

Nick Jonas has some previous hosting experience under his belt, as he announced the 2021 Oscar nominations with his wife, Priyanka Chopra. He also hosted Saturday Night Live this year, and he hosted the 2015 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Jonas posted a skit on Instagram where he accepts a Billboard award for “Best Host Ever.” Jonas captioned his post: “Truly an honor to have already received the first preemptive 2021 #BBMA’s award. Best host ever?!”

The awards show will air Sunday, May 23rd at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
