NEW YORK CITY, NY: Guardian Angels President/Founder Curtis Sliwa will join with fellow Guardian Angels to announce increased patrols for New Years Eve in Times Square and on the subways. Hundreds will be deployed to keep the peace in tourist hubs and on public transit after record crime increases across the City. While no large gatherings will take place, millions of New Yorkers are expected to utilize the subways and bus system to attend smaller gatherings. Subway robberies have skyrocketed 16% since last New Years Eve and “subway shovings” have increased by greater than double. According to the NYPD Citywide Crime Stats, there has been a 98% increase in shootings this year.
