Official Signature Fall 2014 Fashion Piece: Burberry Monogram Cape!

It always starts on the runway. It’s only nearing the end of September and we already have a signature piece for the fall! Ever since supermodel Cara Delavigne strutted down the runway in this Burberry Monogram Block Cape during their fall 2014 show, celebrities and fashion icons alike have been making it their go to piece. From actress Sarah Jessica Parker who is a fashion icon in her own right to Victoria Secret Angel Rosie Huntington Whiteley, it seems like all of our favorite style icons are down with the trend. The piece was already a big hit among the stars, but it wasn’t until NYC’s favorite style star Olivia Polermo hit the New York streets with it that it became a staple piece for everyone famous or not. Now the color block Burberry coat is sold out almost everywhere! So what is it about this piece that makes it our signature fall trend? Is it that fact what we can’t tell if it’s a poncho, a blanket cape or a wrap jacket? Or is it the fact that we can get our initials on the front, adding our own unique flair? It would be too simple to say that the piece is chic. To be a signature trend, especially for fall, it has to possess something extra special and this definitely has that “it” factor. No pants, no problem? Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner, and Hailey Bieber, among more stars and fashion influencers seem to think so. British fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood died on Thursday, December 29 at the age of 81. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Clapham, London. “Vivienne continued to do the things that she loved up until her last moment, designing, working on her art, writing her book, and changing the world for the better,” a representative said in a statement. “She led an amazing life. Her innovation and impact over the last 60 years has been immense and will continue into the future.”

Why it is Too Soon For These 3 Fashion Trends

One thing I look forward to at the start of every year is seeing what’s trending in the fashion world. It can be helpful to scope out trends to see what may or may not be a worthy investment for the coming year. With that being said, there are often trends that go out of style quicker than they come into style. Here are three trends that I personally won’t be investing in.

Adidas Takes Fashion House Thom Browne to Court Over Striped Motif

The sportswear giant Adidas and the fashion brand Thom Browne are in a legal dispute in New York after Adidas alleged that the firm’s usage of parallel bars on its clothing violated the “Three Stripes,” which Adidas has trademarked. The jury trial started on Tuesday at the Southern District Court in Manhattan. It comes after Adidas filed a lawsuit in 2021, claiming that athletic wear with Thom Browne’s striped patterns “imitates” its long-standing branding.

A Look Back at the Life of Punk Style Icon Vivienne Westwood

She died “peacefully and surrounded by her family” in London, her fashion house said in a statement. Westwood, 81, made her name with her controversial punk and new wave styles in the 1970s and went on to dress some of the biggest stars in fashion.
Fellow designer Marc Jacobs said he was “heartbroken” and that she “never failed to surprise and to shock.” Paying tribute to her life and work, he wrote on Instagram: “You did it first. Always… I continue to learn from your words and all of your extraordinary creations.”
