President Biden Signed a Bill to Protect Transgender Children

Last week, President Biden signed an executive order to help protect transgender children and their access to healthcare. With many conservative state laws aiming to increase barriers for transgender children, Biden’s goal is to counteract their efforts with his new LGBTQI+ order.

In celebration of Pride Month, Biden’s executive order will turn to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide states with policies and information on how to best serve LGBTQI+ patients.

According to The White House FACT SHEET, “The President is also directing the Department of Education with addressing the impacts of state laws that target LGBTQI+ students, and has charged the department with releasing a sample school policy for achieving full inclusion for LGBTQI+ students.”

President Biden also intends on ending the practice of “conversion therapy,” a dangerous practice that claims to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity, typically in children.

While many states have laws in place to prevent the use of “conversion therapy,” it is unfortunately still prevalent throughout the nation. Children who are exposed to this practice are subject to trauma and often face higher rates of attempted suicide.

The order will “Address discrimination and barriers faced by LGBTQI+ youth, parents, caretakers, and families in foster care” and “Support families with LGBTQI+ youth.” In addition, it will confront LGBTQI+ homelessness, education, and juvenile justice systems.

Before signing, Biden spoke to a group of LGBTQI+ youth. He exclaimed, “My message to all the young people: just be you. You are loved. You are heard. You are understood. You do belong. I want you to know that as your president, all of us on this stage have your back.”

Why Liz Cheney Lost Support Of The Republican Party

The pending reelection of Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney, daughter of former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney, is not looking too promising ahead of the Wyoming primaries taking place tomorrow, August 16th. While Cheney formerly had an 80% approval rating and was widely adored by the GOP, support from the Republican party plummeted following her disapproval of former President Donald Trump’s involvement in the Jan. 6th capitol riots. She followed in her father’s footsteps as Chair of the House Republican Conference before being voted out in 2021 when she voted to impeach Trump following January 6th.

The legal raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was prompted via a search warrant, obtained with the hope of discovering evidence officially tying Trump to the crimes committed on January 6th, 2021. Now, CNN has reported that more than 20 boxes of files, “binders of photos, sets of classified government materials and at least one handwritten note,” as well as “four sets of ‘top secret’ documents, three sets of ‘secret’ documents, and three sets of ‘confidential’ documents” are now in the FBI’s possession.

Biden to Sign Legislation to Aid Veterans

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden signed a bill into law expanding health care benefits to millions of veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits during their military service. The bill is a major bipartisan success for Congress and addresses a very personal issue for the President. Biden had said he believes there may have been a connection between the brain cancer that killed his 46-year-old son, Beau Biden, and the burn pits Beau was exposed to during his military service.

Mar-a-Lago Trump Estate Searched By FBI For Jan. 6th Investigation

The FBI was officially granted a search warrant into the Florida home of former President Donald Trump in an attempt to discover classified documents that could aid the Jan. 6th committee in their investigation of the capitol riots last year. Eric Trump has spoken to the press about this raid, sharing with Fox News the surprise that his family had regarding this sudden search, where “The purpose of the raid was, from what they said, was because the National Archives wanted to corroborate whether or not Donald Trump had any documents in his possession… And my father has worked so collaboratively with them for months. In fact, the lawyer that’s been working on this was totally shocked. He goes, ‘I have such an amazing relationship with these people and all of a sudden, on no notice, they send 20 cars and 30 agents?'”

Indiana Legislature First To Approve Abortion Bans Post-Roe
