Breakout star QB Jalen Hurts has signed a 5-year/$255 million dollar contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. The contract also features a $179 million dollar guarantee and $15 million dollars in incentives. This contract, which features the first no-trade clause in Eagles history, holds the potential for Hurts to make $274.304 million through 2028.
The contract came as Hurts was heading into the 4th year of his rookie year contract.
Commenting on the historic signing for the Eagles franchise, Eagles CEO Jeffrey Lurie had this to say: The thing with Jalen that I’m so optimistic about is he’s just got this incredible – I’m not telling you anything you don’t know here, but seeing him virtually every day, he’s got an incredible passion for being phenomenal.”
Another historic first is the agent who helped QB Jalen Hurts secure such a contract: Nicole Lynn. She is no stranger to setting herself apart in the marketplace. She was the first female agent to join Players Rep, one of the top NFL agencies.
Celebrating the success of her client, Nicole Lynn took to Instagram: “So happy for my little bro @jalenhurts on becoming the highest-paid player in NFL history! Thank you for trusting me with something of this magnitude. I remember sitting in your old high school, interviewing to be your agent. I am a dreamer, but I’m not sure I could have ever imagined THIS is where we land.”
Jalen Hurts’ speedy contract extension comes as no surprise to anyone in the league. The 2022 season saw Hurts prove that he can take them to the playoffs and beyond, going most of the season undefeated and making it to the Super Bowl before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs. He boasted 3,701 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, 370 rushing yards, and a 66.5 completion percentage.
Commenting on the signing, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was congratulatory and complimentary: “He deserves it. He’s someone that plays the position the right way. He goes about his business the right way. That’s why they were in the Super Bowl, and he played a great game in the Super Bowl. He proved a lot of people wrong that were still doubting him”
