This past week was one of the most prominent weeks for the movie industry. With Festival De Cannes nearing its end, everyone is wondering about the upcoming Awards Gala. The film with the most buzz this year is David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, based on Don DeLillo’s novel of the same name. It features Robert Pattinson playing Erick Packer, a 28-year-old billionaire whose journey throughout one day causes him to lose incredible amounts of money. Pattinson is known for starring in the Twilight Saga movies as the sparkly vampire every tween loves, but it is clear that he is trying to break out of his vampire typecasting in this role. He plays alongside Juliette Binoche, Sarah Gadon, Mathieu Amalric, Jay Baruchel, and many other contemporary famous celebrities.
The film has been selected to have its World Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Cosmopolis will play in Competition- the most celebrated and notable part of the festival. The film will also compete for Palme D’Or, the highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival.
The official release date for Cosmopolis has not been announced yet, however when the movie reaches theaters it will certainly be a box office hit.
