Latin Artist of the Month for August 2021
Sebastián Yatra initially rose to prominence as a 19-year-old when his track “El Psicólogo,” a pleasant combination of love balladry, Latin pop, and reggaeton, became a smash in his home Colombia and throughout Latin America. Three years later, his smash hit song “Traicionera” cemented his status as a Latin pop sensation. Yatra came to the U.S. from Colombia when he was five years old. He began to play the guitar and piano as a child in Miami and went on to become a vocalist in his adolescence.
“Traicionera” was the lead song from his debut album, Mantra, released in 2018. The album also included the track “Sutra,” which featured Puerto Rican rapper Dalmata. He also released Fantasia, which included the lead track “Un Año” by Reik. On the bilingual hit “Runaway,” he collaborated with Daddy Yankee, Natti Natasha, and the Jonas Brothers, and he continued to gain success.
