Selena Gomez wishes to switch career to acting

Selena Gomez hinted at the end of her music career during her appearance on the SmartLess podcast with hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett.

The star revealed that she never intended to be a full-time singer, but thanks to a push from Disney it spiraled into something she never imagined happening, with her interest in music being sparked while starring in Wizards of Waverly Place.

“I started having a lot of fun with music and then touring was really fun. But I was doing my TV show at the same time [Wizards of Waverly Place], and I just found it really fun, so I just kept going but the older I get, the more I’m kind of like, I would like to find something to just settle on,” said Gomez.

Gomez added that the coming change was also due to the negative effects her heavy schedule had on her physically and mentally. The singer noted that she would overwork herself as a distraction from other ongoing issues. Unfortunately, this only resulted in her spending time in a mental hospital and the cancellation of one of her tours.

“It just got to me because I love working and it distracts me from bad things,” Gomez said.

Luckily for fans, Gomez isn’t giving up on music just yet. When asked whether she would pick music or acting, the singer said that she had at least one more album left in her. That said, she remains firm on her goal to center her career around acting.

“I am going to want to chill because I’m tired. I wanted to be an actress, I never really intended on being a singer full-time but apparently, that hobby turned into something else,” said Gomez.
