Simon & Garfunkel were a vocal duo formed in the late 1950s and performed throughout the 60s. They were one of the best-selling artists of the 1960s, an era that’s already filled with such great music, and have some of the most iconic songs of all time. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel made masterpiece after masterpiece together, with their voices melding together beautifully and bringing new definition to how harmonies could sound.
Some of their biggest singles include, “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “The Sound of Silence,” “Homeward Bound,” and “Mrs. Robinson.” The group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a part of the class of 1990 and have accumulated 10 Grammy awards. Simon was known for writing the exquisite songs, while Garfunkel was known for having the better voice, with many calling his instrument the one of the greatest voices of all time.
The duo broke up in 1970 as they suffered from artistic differences. Since then, however, they have reunited numerous times, even giving an unforgettable free concert at Central Park in 1981. Although Simon and Garfunkel do not get along much anymore, their impact on music has been profound and will never be forgotten.
