Star Colorado Buffaloes football player out for three weeks due to injury

Travis Hunter, a star football player for the Colorado Buffaloes sustained an injury during an intense game against Colorado State University (CSU) on Saturday.

In an update with 247Sports, Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach stated that Hunter would miss three weeks due to suffering a lacerated liver, confirmed by “Undisputed”.

Hunter took a rough hit from CSU’s defensive back Henry Blackburn in the first quarter of the game. After initially receiving attention from team trainers Hunter briefly returned to the game before being pulled off the field. A penalty was called on Blackburn for unnecessary roughness.

After Hunter’s departure, the Colorado Buffaloes managed to remain undefeated, beating CSU in double overtime.

In the next three weeks, Hunter will be absent for multiple games, including the face off against Oregon and USC.

In more concerning news, a report by CBS revealed that Blackburn had received threats following the game. Not only were he and his family harassed through calls and texts, but according to what Athletic Coach Joe Parker told ESPN, Blackburn’s address at CSU, as well as his family’s home address, was doxxed online. The CSU Rams Jay Norvell coach addressed the situation in a press conference Monday.

“Our university is supporting him, the police department is supporting him, because of the seriousness of the threats that have come out of this,” Norvell said. “It’s just sad. It’s sad that that’s the state of the world we live in. I mean, it’s a football game, let’s not make it more than that. We don’t want anybody to get hurt. We don’t coach that kind of football.”

Hunter stands out as one of the most versatile players in college football, seamlessly contributing on both offense and defense throughout the season for Colorado. His impressive statistics reflect his impact on the field, including 16 receptions for 243 yards as a wide receiver, and on defense, where he’s made nine tackles, defensed three passes, and secured one interception.

Hunter’s exceptional performance across multiple positions highlights his prowess and significance to the team’s success this season, leaving sports fans eagerly anticipating how the Colorado Buffaloes will bounce back from this setback.
