On Monday night a woman in Gloucester City was hit by a stray bullet while in her bed. Authorities say that Francisco Griffin, her 51-year-old neighbor fired the shot after getting into an argument with a woman outside his house at around 11 p.m.
Griffin has been charged with second-degree possession of a weapon, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree aggravated assault, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
The victim, 67-year-old Deborah Strang was taken to a local hospital where she was stitched up and released early Tuesday morning.
She spoke with Channel 6 ABC Philadelphia after she was discharged. “I sat up and I heard bang, my husband came running from his room he says ‘did you hear that! ’…the bloods pouring, and I took my hand away when I did the bullet fell on the floor.” Said Strang.
She continued telling reporters that she had moved in bed just before the shot, saying “If I had not lifted my head up when I had that bullet would have hit me in the head, there is no doubt about that. I am very fortunate that I am still alive”.
Strang is in good spirits and will be okay despite the wound, and as for the shooter, his detention hearing will take place today.
