Florence Welch, of English rock band, Florence and the Machine, has quickly become one fashion’s most influential icons. Florence’s passion not only shows through in her music, but also in her intriguing style, which she claims is always based on her mood. For her performance at the 2011 Oscars, she wore a long sleeve, off white laced Valentino Couture dress that looked like something from the 20’s. Then she wore another stunning Valentino Couture at Elton John’s Aids Foundation Oscar viewing party. She has adopted a very unique and bold look that pairs well with her striking red hair; and it hasn’t taken long for big name designers to notice. Frida Giannini, the creative director of Gucci, called Florence the “strong and somewhat mysterious muse” that inspired her 2011 autumn/winter collection. Frida also designed all of Florence’s performance outfits for her US tour this past summer. Then Chanel’s creative director, Karl Lagerfield, jumped on the rock bandwagon and had Florence appear in his under-the-sea themed catwalk show for Paris’ 2011 Fashion Week. She emerged out of an enormous clamshell, wearing a beautiful dress, to sing a song, while others walked the runway. Karl then photographed her for the band’s limited-edition vinyl cover of her latest single, Shake it Out, which is pictured here. It doesn’t look like Florence will have to worry about filling up her wardrobe for quite some time. You could say I’m a bit jealous.
