Vera Wang is well known for her high fashion couture wedding gowns and bridesmaid’s gown collections, including the dresses worn by recent brides Chelsea Clinton and Kim Kardashian. In her latest 2012 bridal collection, she has decided to mix it up and “wow” her customers. Out of the 15 wedding dresses that went down the runway, nine were black. This isn’t the first time Vera Wang has deviated from the usual white dress. She’s experimented with colors like purple and pale green, as well as other neutrals, but this year she chose to go black, telling New York Magazine, “I found black to be fresh and tongue-in-cheek.” Some may think it’s not traditional but we’re in a new age were fashion doesn’t always follow rules and guidelines. The show-stopping dresses incorporate the scary, mysterious, sexual color into graceful beauty. The black gowns bring in an interesting taste and style into the bridal world.
