People within the LGBTQ+ community historically have had, and continue to have, difficulty in being accepted as their true, authentic selves. Within our progressive country, despite some backtracking in recent years, the majority of liberals wholeheartedly support the open expression and embrace of one’s gender identity for those who are not straight or cisgender. However, the issue of sports is where political and personal views tend to get muddled, regarding the perceived unfairness to cis women when competing against trans women, who may biologically have an athletic advantage.
