After an over ten year long wait, last weekend Avatar 2: the Way of Water was released to movie theaters across the world. In the lead up to the release of Avatar 2: the Way of Water, director James Cameron, told the public the movie would have to make $2 billion dollars in order for it to be a success. The original movie, Avatar, made 2.9 billion dollars in box office sales when it was released in 2009.
