As one of the largest social media platforms at the moment, TikTok is revolutionizing the music industry, with the most recent smash hit being Nicki Minaj’s new single ‘Super Freaky Girl,’ which samples Rick James’s ‘Super Freak’ from the 80s. On July 12th, Nicki posted a risqué video on TikTok with a snippet of her new song, which skyrocketed it to popularity on the app as creators choreographed a dance to it. While most musicians will release teasers of new music in order to build excitement from fans, the ‘Super Freaky Girl’ sound on TikTok has almost 200,000 videos featuring the song, resulting in an insane amount of streams after the official release on August 12th.
