Betty Davis, who enjoyed decades of a trailblazing career in music and fashion, died at age 77 on February 9th, 2022 from natural causes. The singer and songwriter was well-known for her controversial lyrics and performance style. As an openly sexual and free spirited woman during the conservative times of the 60’s and 70’s, Davis was also one of very few women who make funk music, and although less popular among mainstream listeners upon their release, her albums hold immense influence today.
