Following the resignation of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, eight new candidates for Prime Minister have emerged, with the first official round of voting taking place next Wednesday. The diverse bunch, with four men and four women, consists of Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss, Tom Tugendhat, Kemi Badenoch, Penny Mordaunt, Jeremy Hunt, Nadhim Zahawi and Suella Braverman, who have each received at least 20 nominations from members of Parliament, which is the minimum amount to be added to the ballot.

One of the most controversial world leaders, Boris Johnson, has officially declared his resignation as Prime Minister of the UK, saying that he will leave office once his replacement has been determined. The straw that broke the camel’s back, after years of scandal surrounding the Prime Minister, was the resignation of 44 Conservative Party ministers and aides in wake of Johnson’s statement about ignoring Chris Pincher’s sexual misconduct allegations.
