Crucial texts sent by Secret Service members on January 5th and 6th 2021, preceding the capitol riots that are currently being investigated, have apparently been deleted as part of a “device-replacement program.” Chief of Communications for the Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, said that the texts were not intentionally deleted, but rather cleared from all phones as part of a routine phone resetting before all evidence related to the Jan. 6th insurrection was requested. However, it is difficult to believe this seemingly harmless excuse, in which texts that included incriminating evidence were conveniently erased right before they were sought after by officials. According to Guglielmi, “7,678 team chat messages by Secret Service employees referencing conversations and operational details pertaining to Jan. 6 and preparations leading up to it” were unfortunately deleted.
