The city’s Department of Education released the updated calendar for schools in New York, and October 11th, which has long been the day to celebrate Christopher Columbus, was blocked off as Indigenous Peoples’ Day, which has been changed to Italian Heritage Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day after the uproar.
