It’s been two weeks since the NCAA announced their new guidelines for “Athlete Inclusion, Competitive Equity, and Eligibility Policy,” which cleared the way for the University of Pennsylvania’s Lia Thomas to compete at nationals. Since then, many swimmers have taken their state in favor or against them. Nancy Hogshead-Makar, former U.S. Olympian who now fronts the Champion Women organization for promoting equality and accountability in sports, said that such discussion centered around the inclusivity of trans athletes into female sports, but forgets to take into account the negative impact it can have on biologically-born women.
