Flight Delays and Cancellations Across US Amid FAA System Outage

On Wednesday, the airline industry has slowly begun to resume service after a Federal Aviation Administration system outage caused thousands of flight delays and cancellations across the United States. The FAA fleetingly halted all domestic flight departures across the United States starting Wednesday morning. They eventually lifted the ground stop around 9 a.m. ET after it restored a system that provides pilots with pre-flight safety notices. However, airlines continued to cancel and delay flights due to the ongoing congestion. In fact, by midday Wednesday, the FAA website still showed ground delays and ground stops at some airports.

The competition against the Phillies, Rays, Red Sox, and other teams have been canceled. The delay on the spring games due to COVID-19 can affect the work schedules of the Yankee pitchers. 2022 marked the second season that was delayed by COVID-19, and this delay doesn’t make it any better for the team members because their training will be outdated. The players would have a challenge following up with the big leagues.

In-person Opening of New York City Schools Delayed

On Thursday, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio delayed the in-person opening of public schools.  As concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic continue, students were told that their in-person start would be delayed over a week. 

They hope to take a slightly staggered approach by first opening in-person learning to those in K-5 and K-8.  These schools are only delayed until September 29th, while middle schools and high schools will open October 1st at the earliest.
