Olympic hammer thrower and activist Gwen Berry responded to backlash after she turned away from the U.S. flag to face the stands while the national anthem was being played during the medal ceremony on Saturday. Towards the end of the song, Berry put a black T-shirt over her head with the words, “Activist Athlete.” Berry’s action drew many criticisms.
