Fetterman Sues to Have Undated Absentee Ballots Counted

Pennsylvania Democratic Senate nominee John Fetterman, who has served as the state’s lieutenant governor since 2019, has gone to federal court to try to have Pennsylvania voters’ undated mail-in ballots counted. A divided Pennsylvania court recently ordered counties to not count absentee ballots with unsigned or invalid dates on their outer envelopes. It’s a contentious issue that’s gripped the pivotal northeastern swing state for some time, but Fetterman, who maintains that the refusal to count such ballots violates the U.S. Constitution, hopes that his new lawsuit will urge the federal court to supersede the state court’s decision.
