She’s on her way home, after months of being unjustly detained in Russia, held under intolerable circumstances. Brittney will soon be back in the arms of her loved ones, and she should have been there all along.”

Biden Administration Offer to Exchange Convicted Russian Arms Trafficker for Brittney Griner
Two-time Olympic gold medalist and WBNA player Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia since February when she was caught with hashish oil in her luggage at the airport, which contains strong levels of THC and is highly illegal in Russia. Now, over five months since her initial arrest and about a month after she plead guilty to the drug charges, President Biden has announced his plan to release convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout from the US prison he is currently in, in exchange for the release of Brittney Griner as well as former Marine Paul Whelan, who has been in Russia since 2018.
