2020 was the year of vinyl. This nostalgia-driven trend, which started some years before, exploded during the pandemic when after 34 years, the sales of Vinyl surpassed greatly that of compact discs. It’s not surprising that Compact Discs are declining in sales as the era of CDs effectively ended around the time that the iPod was born. The 2010s brought huge changes for the music industry, and release formats were no exception.
