The United States House of Representatives voted to re-authorize the Violence Against Women Act on Wednesday in a 242-172 vote. The law provides legal protections for women who have experienced domestic and sexual violence, and it lapsed in 2019 when it failed to get to the floor of the Republican-led Congress.
