10-Year-Old Girl Forced To Travel For Abortion Following Sexual Abuse

Following the 4th of July weekend, the question must be asked what independence Americans really have when the topics of conversation surround young girls who are victims of rape forced to give birth to their abuser’s child. Ohio is one of the states with “trigger laws” in place following the overturning of Roe v Wade a little over a week ago, with the policy stating that no one can get an abortion once they are over six weeks pregnant. As a result, a 10-year-old girl was denied an abortion in her home state after finding out she was pregnant just three days over the six week mark, following a sexual assault.

The Supreme Court ruling, announced this morning, has officially overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade case that has protected a woman’s right to an abortion for 50 years— now millions of women nationwide have lost their constitutional right to autonomy over their bodies, and will be forced to bring pregnancies to term, no matter the situation. While the implementation of Roe v. Wade will not affect every state, nearly half of the U.S. is likely to ban safe and legal abortions completely.

Women pay more for things like shampoo and razors, even for bigger purchases like automotive transactions and mortgages.
