President Joe Biden is set to speak with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Thursday this week amid fresh tensions over Ukraine, Taiwan, and the microchip shortage following the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be the first time the two presidents will converse since March as our diplomatic ties seem to be at a historic low point as tensions rise awaiting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s plans to visit Taiwan in early August.
