After six years together, Grammy award-winning singer Taylor Swift and English actor Joe Alwyn have called it quits.
Since they began dating in 2016, the couple has been known for keeping their relationship very private. Of course, being in the spotlight 24/7, fans would constantly speculate things in their relationship. For example, there have been numerous rumors over the years about Swift and Alwyn being engaged, which neither ever claimed to be true or false.
Alwyn, in particular, made it known that the two preferred to keep their relationship between them. In 2018, he stated: “I understand people’s curiosity in the world we live in, about people’s private lives. Well, I don’t understand it, but I know it exists. For me, I just don’t feel it’s something I want to offer up to be picked apart by people who don’t know about it, and it’s just not theirs to have.”
Although Swift and Alwyn have yet to personally comment on their breakup, a source close to them spoke out about their separation. “They’ve had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together,” says the source, noting that “ultimately” they “weren’t the right fit for one another.”
It seems as if Swift’s continuous rise in fame may have caused a rift in their relationship. “Joe has struggled with Taylor’s level of fame and the attention from the public,” says the source. “The differences in their personalities have also become harder to ignore after years together. They’ve grown apart.”
The insider stated that the breakup happened recently and was not dramatic. “Taylor didn’t see them working out in the long run. They are friendly. She doesn’t have anything bad to say about Joe. They just grew apart. Taylor is staying very focused on her tour right now.” The source added, referencing Swift’s ‘The Eras’ tour that is currently going on right now across the country.
