Bio

Tegui Calderón Rosario is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, and actor. Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, Calderon began his foray into music within a cover band during high-school in Miami Florida.

During his time in the band and in school, Calderon developed a music style that was influenced by salsa, plena, dancehall, and hip-hop. Calderón first step into a professional career came as a participant in various Puerto Rican hip hop contests during the 1990s. Calderon would meet some of his future collaborators, including Eddie Dee and DJ Adam, and eventually release his first single in collaboration with Eddie Dee on Dee’s music label in 2000.

As the years progressed, Calderon would release a variety of tracks and compilations, including Cosa Buena, which became his first worldwide hit. That success led to his debut album “El Abayarde becoming the first hip hop/reggaeton album by a solo artist to sell over 75,000 units in one week. Calderón would later sign a joint venture alongside White Lion with Sony Music Latin.

Calderón would later make his own label Jiggiri Records, which would go on to sign on and release albums from artists like Zion & Lennox, Voltio, and John Eric.
