The most recent season of ABC’s The Bachelorette is without a doubt the most chaotic season we’ve seen yet. Originally set to air on May 18th, 2020, the 16th season had to be pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and ended up airing on October 13th, 2020. The titular Bachelorette Clare Crawley and her many suitors had to quarantine at the La Quinta Resort & Club in California before the show could take off. When filming did begin, it was obvious from the very first night that Clare had eyes for one man above all the others. Dale Moss captured Crawley’s heart from the moment he stepped out of the limo, causing her, in what is now an infamous moment, to declare, “I definitely feel like I just met my husband.” Sure enough, within the first two weeks of the season, Crawley announced that she was leaving to pursue a relationship with Moss, and Tayshia Adams stepped in as Bachelorette. Moss additionally proposed to Crawley on the show before the two departed.
Those who deemed the relationship as moving too fast are now vindicated, as Moss announced that he and Crawley have broken their engagement in a statement posted on his Instagram yesterday. The statement reads: “I wanted to share with you all that Clare and I have decided to go our separate ways. We appreciate the love and support we’ve received from so many people, but this is the healthiest decision for both of us at this time. We strongly believe in leading with love and always remaining true to oneself – something our families have taught and instilled in us throughout our lives. We only hope the best things for one another. Please respect our privacy as we work through this together.”
Moss is reportedly the one who broke it off, as he realized that he is, in actuality, not ready for marriage. In addition to his Instagram statement, Moss has made public comments, saying that he has nothing but well wishes for Crawley. Crawley has yet to make any public statement about the breakup and is “devastated,” according to sources. She has also reportedly since been asked out by Spencer Robertson, one of Tayshia Adams’ contestants from season 16. It is unknown whether Crawley has accepted.
