TLC is one of the best-selling female groups of all time. Their most well known hits are Waterfalls, No Scrubs, and Creep. The group’s original lineup consisted of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Then Rozonda” Chilli” Thomas was added to the group. Lopes unfortunately passed away in 2002 due to a car accident. Thomas and Watkins always make it a point to keep Lopes’s memory alive.
TLC was known for their R&B and Pop sound that would be infused with attitude and confidence. They were also known for their eye-catching music videos and loud statements that they made on and off the stage such as the members wearing condoms on their costumes.
TLC explained that on the rise of the AIDS epidemic they chose to wear condoms on their costumes to make a statement without feeling too overbearing on their fans. They wanted their fans to feel safe and comfortable having safe sex conversations.
TLC will forever go down in history as one of the loudest and proudest girl groups R&B had to offer.
