UC Davis Suspends Entire Baseball Team

The University of California, Davis’ baseball team has been suspended entirely, and its coaching staff has been placed on leave following misconduct allegations on Wednesday. According to the University’s Office of Compliance and Policy, they are currently investigating the misconduct allegations.

The department said in a statement, “The entire baseball program has been placed on suspension. In addition, the baseball coaching staff has been placed on administrative leave.” The statement did not specify the allegations, but the department is “committed to conducting a thorough assessment to determine the best path forward to provide a safe and inclusive experience for all team members.”

The investigation is expected to last for the first two months of the fall quarter, which begins on Sep. 20th. The five coaches who were listed on the UC Davis baseball roster have yet to respond to the allegations.

University spokeswoman Melissa Blouin said that she could not provide more details about the allegations because the process “protects the privacy of all parties during an investigation.” The athletic department said that it is too soon to determine when team activities, including practices, will resume.
