Usher Files Restraining Order Against His “Wife”

A judge has issued a restraining order against Darshelle Jones-Rekastraw, a woman Usher claims has been posing as his wife. This is an example of a fan obsession gone wrong. According to previous TMZ reports, this woman was arrested last month for appearing outside Usher’s home after having been warned to stay away. Darshelle Jones-Rakestraw has also been evaluated at a mental health center for signs of required psychiatric help.
Darshelle and Usher were in court this morning, and an official restraint order has been filed by a judge to keep Darshelle Jones-Rakestraw away from Usher and his child. Scary stuff!

Joe Biden Promises Puerto Rico $60 Million in Aid

It’s been over two weeks since Hurricane Fiona, a category 1 storm, left much of Puerto Rico without electricity or clean water. In response to the devastation caused by Fiona, Biden has promised a $60 million relief package. Yet, given the failed U.S response after Hurricane Maria in 2017, some remain skeptical that the aid will be distributed efficiently, and in a way that will protect the island from future storms. “Less than 3% of infrastructure money allocated for storm recovery after Maria has actually been used, ” says Carla Minet, executive director of the Center for Investigative Journalism in Puerto Rico.

Prolongs Drought Brings Famine, Drought, and Fear to Somalia

Somalia’s DOLLOW (AP) — A man in a donkey cart rides through the dust with two small, silent boys. The sky is cloudy. It might rain. It will not. It hasn’t in a long time.
Mohamed Ahmed Diriye, 60, is nearing the end of the most difficult journey of his life. He set out two weeks ago from a seaside city on Somalia’s northern border. People were perishing. Livestock was being slaughtered. He decided to abandon his day laborer job and flee to the other end of the country, passing through a landscape of carcasses and Islamic extremist-held territory.
He is exhausted after traveling 700 miles. The food is all gone. He’s holding a battered stick in one hand and a nearly empty cart in the other. His children are only four and five years old.
Diriye claims they attempted to flee. “However, we encountered the same drought here.” Over one million Somalis have fled and discovered this as well.

Koch Funded Law Firm Attempts to Keep Millions of Americans in Student Debt

This summer Biden announced a one-time student loan forgiveness plan for single people making less than $125,000 annually ($250,000 for married couples). This plan would forgive $20,000 worth of student loans for borrowers who had qualified for a pell grant, and just $10,000 for borrowers who hadn’t. While the loan forgiveness program only applies to loans issued before Jun 30th of 2022, it is a groundbreaking step towards mitigating the student loan debt crisis young people face today. The plan would reportedly benefit 43 million borrowers, and result in 20 million borrowers zeroing out their student loan debt altogether.
