Virgil Abloh was an American fashion designer and entrepreneur famous for his luxury streetwear clothing brand Off Line. Born in Rockford Illinois, Abloh got his start in the industry interning at Fendi in 2009.

 

Abloh collaborated with Kanye West , who was in the same intern class at Fendi’s office in Rome when Abloh caught the eye of  alongside Placed in the company’s Rome, Italy office where he caught the eye of many influential people in the fashion industry, including Luis Vuitton’s CEO. Eventually, the two men alongside, Don C established RSVP Gallery, a retail store in Chicago, where Abloh was appointed to creative director in 2010.

 

His first official clothing company, Pyrex Vision, launched in 2012 as an artistic experiment. After shutting it down a year later, he then launched the now famous Off-White streetwear brand, which gained him world wide attention, expanding across China, Japan, and the United States.

 

Abloh’s success eventually found him becoming the first African artistic director of a Louis Vuitton  menswear ready-to-wear line in 2018.

 

 Additionally, the next year Abloh was even appointed to the board of directors of The Council of Fashion Designers of America. Some of his most notable collaborations have been with companies including IKEA, NIKE, and Planned Parenthood. Celebrities that Abloh has designed clothing items for include Rhianna, Hailey Bieber.
