Every time I ask someone what their opinion is of the new Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, I hear things such as, “disappointing” and “bad”. After going to see the film myself, I would have to agree. Marvel has set the bar high with the Avengers and Spider-man franchise, but this movie did not meet that standard.
One issue I had with this film is the unnecessary parts and lack of flow. While some scenes were cool to watch, they did not fit the plot or add anything important. These unnecessary scenes made the film hard to watch and left me unfulfilled in the end. Additionally, the movie felt self-contained with no consequences while also having low stakes.
The best part of this highly anticipated movie was the Scarlett Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen. Olsen did an incredible job as always capturing the pain that Wanda Vision suffered in the past. Unfortunately, this film still felt like a failed attempt at a horror film.
Another disappointing factor was that the producers brought in some notable actors, such as John Krasinski, and gave him an underwhelming character arc. Seeing him in a Marvel film was new and exciting, but his involvement felt unnecessary and anticlimactic. In conclusion, I would agree that yes, the newest Dr. Strange movie was a flop.
Despite all my negative thoughts about this film, it is worth watching at least once. Watching Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Cumberbatch on the big screen will never not be entertaining.
