Poems from Cassidy Paredes

WHEN DAY BREAKS

by

Change is happening before my eyes. I
Walk through the orchard in the dead of night.
Peacefully I see stars and sky to find

A place where I can shine like stars so bright.
The stars spell out words I’ve been trying to hear,
Like life will turn around, and life’s all right.

I’ve learned so much in changing seasons. Fear
Haunts me—something that’s hard for me to admit.
Fear’s been directing my path, my way, my year.

I’m stronger now, something I’ve realized, though
There’s pain and struggle in this life so far.
But growth shines brighter than trials and woes.

There is much healing in pain for growth’s sake.
Too soon, my trials fade away once day breaks.

Ded. Life and all its seasons
